Mother and Daughter

In the race of life, I had to catch a train,
A platform change turned it into a frenzied domain.
On the bridge, a race ensued, like a lively sprint,
But amidst it all, a scene made my heart wince.

A mother sat, in a corner all alone,
Feeding her child, in a worn saree, unknown.
With a morsel in her hand, her gaze was downcast,
Yet her child, dressed in rags, smiled, unsurpassed.

His eyes were fixated on his sister's loving play,
Jumping, entertaining him in her own special way.
But little did they know, in their simple grace,
It was a day of celebration for the women's chase.

All around the world, on that very day,
Women were hailed for their power and sway.
But this mother and daughter remained unaware,
That it was International Women's Day's affair.

In their humble abode, away from the grand stage,
They lived each day, surviving life's rampage.
For them, every day was a battle, no less,
Unbeknownst to the accolades, they faced life's test.
